The Foundation Series - #2 Clinique Moisture Surge Tinted Moisturizer

Hi Ladies! Here is the second installment of my Foundation Series. I recognize that Clinique tinted moisturizer is not exactly a foundation but here it is. I bought this product after receiving a sample in a magazine and really liking it - so there you go samples really do work! 

If you didn't catch the first installment in my Foundation Series - you may want to have a look here - basically I just talked about what I look for in a foundation and how I always struggle to find a foundation I love which is why I have so many! As a recap, here are the things I look for most in a foundation :- 

• Coverage - What coverage am I looking for and does this foundation provide this for me?
• Longevity - How long does this foundation last on my face? How does this foundation look after 4 hours, 8 hours? Do  I need to touch - up or re-apply? Does this foundation melt/slide? Does it oxidise?
• How does this foundation interact with my skin? Does it break me out? Does it dry my skin out?
• Overall finish - How good is this foundation as a base for the rest of my make - up? Is the shade right for me? Is the finish even?  

These things are the factors which make or break a foundation for me so these are the things I'm planning to cover in this series.

I bought this product in shade 02 for around £21 in Debenhams. I had previously been using a BB Cream which I didn't like (coming later in this series - seems like I don't like anything haha).

 Clinique Moisture Surge Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15  is described by Clinique as 'instant moisture boost with SPF protection and a hint of skin-perfecting colour. Refreshingly lightweight formula provides a no-makeup look and feel, yet covers imperfections with a natural, hydrating touch. Oil-free.' I agree with this statement. When you apply this tinted moisturizer it provides light coverage and looks very sheer and natural, so it's perfect for somebody who is looking for a natural, make-up free look. Personally I do prefer a little more coverage as I have small purple scars on my skin from past spots, but I like this natural finish and you don't expect medium coverage from a tinted moisturizer as it's not what they are for.  I used this for about 3 months during summer but I stopped using it when I realised I had really terrible break outs on my forehead that I haven't had since I was about 15. I'm not sure if you can completely blame this tinted moisturizer as I probably wasn't taking as much care of my skin as I should have been at the time. I didn't know this moisturizer was oil free until now! I usually steer clear of oily foundations as I have oily skin and can get a really oily T-Zone through the day when wearing foundation - it doesn't get oily if I'm not wearing any foundation.  I would say this lasted quite a long time, I wore it to work in a bar and it lasted most of the evening,5 hours+.

The Verdict - Overall this tinted moisturizer provides a really nice sheer, natural look with light coverage. Unfortunately this tinted moisturizer is not right for me (again) but I put that down to  making a bad choice- if I have oily skin why did I buy a moisture surge tinted moisturizer? Surely I want one that controls oil, moisture and shine.

The Recommendation -  If you have oily skin I don't recommend however if you have normal - dry skin, I'd definitely say go for it, if you're looking for a super natural look!
