NOUVEAU CHEVEUX | Hair

Shameless selfies of my shorter, highlighted hair.
You may have already seen a brief photo of my hair in my Latest Loves post last week but to be honest you couldn't see anything at all. My new camera arrived on Monday so I thought I'd play about with it and show you a few better photos of the cut and the colour. I know all anybody wants to see in these kind of posts is the photos so I'll keep the text brief.

I am very reluctant to cut my hair, it's been 18 months since I had it cut. I had very long hair at one point but following a few cuts and a bad perm I ended up with a long bob. I wanted my long hair back so I grew and grew it and I didn't cut it. However it was so dead and unmanageable and I could cope no longer with it snapping up and up through the lengths. When my good friend, Sally, asked me if I would come and be a model for her in her hairdressing training I agreed and ended up with a very lovely cut with long layers throughout and framing the face. I love the length and the hair feels so much thicker and healthier -  I'm now determined to keep it in great condition regardless of the length - healthy hair is more important.

Once it had been cute however I found it quite dull as all the highlights through the lengths of my hair, left over from the ombre, were cut away. So I enlisted the help of my wonderful aunt, Aimee, who has been highlighting her own hair probably since she could walk. It was a daunting process having a highlighting cap stuck on my head, hair pulled through and bleach applied and for a scary few minutes we thought it had all gone wrong and a hasty brown dye was on the cards, but we dried it and styled it and I love it. It's great, it gives the hair movement, life and body and warms up my complexion.

What do you think? How often do you cut your hair?

  2. Your hair looks gorgeous! I had super long hair then cut it shoulder length, regrew it, cut it just below shoulders and then re grew it again haha! All because I didn't cut it enough not wanting it to be shorter when it just ended up way shorter, im now sticking to regular trims!! xx

  4. Ugh, I totally know what you mean about hating how damaged and unhealthy your hair is. I had bad hair for years and thought that it was "just the way my own hair was" until I switched to non-silicone shampoo. It kind of had to get worse before it got better, but now it's much better :) Your highlights + cut look great!

Btw, love the color of YSL in your previous post!
