Everywhere I looked YSL Youth Liberator was there, so it was only a matter of time before I mustered up the courage to part with my £37 in exchange for the beautiful bottle. Yes, the bottle is beautiful and looks luxurious on display in my bedroom - heavy glass with a plastic lid which upon removal reveals the pump underneath - but what about the contents?
I had read so many reviews of this foundation - high coverage, satin finish - it sounded perfect for me. I've had really problem skin at the moment skin recently with lots of hormonal blemishes and dehydrated patches - unfortunately I find this foundation doesn't come close to covering the redness of these blemishes or evening out the skin tone, not what I expected - for me the coverage is low to medium and isn't particularly buildable - the more I apply the more it accentuates my pores and settles into any creases. I also find it sticks to any dry patches whilst getting oilier and oilier throughout the day - I applied this foundation about 1 hour ago and already I can feel the foundation sitting on my face and its incredibly slick to touch - eventually this gets so bad I just feel like I want to wash my face.
In terms of shades, I was matched to B10, this is the lightest shade they do and is way too pinky for me and slightly too pale, B20 being slightly too dark I opted for the paler shade. I have a pale face but I don't have a pinky skintone so for me it just doesn't work.
I'm really disappointed with this foundation, I know so many people love it but for me it just doesn't work and I much prefer my £5 Rimmel True Match foundation - I just find I'd rather wear no foundation at all than this foundation.
What do you think?
Such a shame you didn't get on with this foundation especially given the price tag! That's why I am always reluctant to try new foundations especially luxury end ones. You should just stick to what you know works for you x
