summer in review: benicassim festival

As part of my summer in review series I've been reviewing all festivals and holiday destinations I've been visiting this summer. Last weekend I got home from Benicassim festival, I doubled up my Benicassim festival trip with a four day trip to Ibiza so that's coming up on the blog too also.

For those of you who don't know Benicassim festival takes place in Spain around 3.5 hours from Barcelona. I've been before two years previous and I really enjoyed it. There is the option to camp at the festival for 8 nights or you could always rent an apartment, music is on for four nights over the weekend Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. This year Benicassim saw acts such as Kasabian, The Libertines, Ellie Goulding and Lily Allen.

I didn't manage to get great photos because my camera died on the first night of the festival but I did also vlog a little of it which you can see on my channel here. I honestly loved this festival it is the perfect festival for people who love music and having fun but hate the English weather! Each day we got up early and headed to the beach for a day of tanning before coming home and getting ready to party all night to amazing bands. This year we opted for an Easy Tent which  cost around £30 pounds each for three people and they're basically just tents which have been put up for you with roll mats, torches and locks - this was so much easier for us since we were travelling to Ibiza after the festival - I'd definitely recommend them, we met some lovely people, they had security and even somebody who cleaned up the site each morning.

As for the acts Kasabian absolutely stole the show for me, they were out of this world and really didn't disappoint - my only qualm would be that for some reason the screens either side of the stage weren't working and that was a shame. Lily Allen was her usual sassy self and put on such a great show with backing dancers to boot. I do like The Libertines but to be honest they weren't all that great, Pete missed a couple of verses and fell over a few times so I ended up leaving their set early. I also loved The Courteeners, Jake Bugg and Aeroplane who was so groovy, even Tinie Tempah got the crowd going.

TOP TIPS - Book your flights and tickets early because you're sure to get it for an absolute bargain, check out eufest.com for festival transfers, alcohol is expensive inside the arena so predrink before you go in, you need to buy tickets for drinks so buy them in bulk to avoid queues, be very careful of your bag in crowds, consider buying a bus pass for the week which will take you to the beach and back because it can be a long walk in the heat.
