RiRi Woo vs. Ruby Woo | Comparison and Review

This is a post I have been meaning to write for a long time but I have autofocus troubles and I didn't want to swatch these products on my hand only - so after many iPhone selfies to no avail - I have decided to use some incredibly cringey selfies so you can at least see the lipsticks worn on the lips so without further ado...

MAC Ruby Woo is possibly my all time favourite lipstick ever so when I heard Rihanna was releasing her own MAC lipstick AND it was inspired by Ruby Woo I was rather excited to say the least. One thought which crossed my mind however was the idea that RiRi Woo might be so close to Ruby Woo that I didn't need it - but in jumps my friend, Emily, who decides for me and waits in an online queue to gift this to me as a birthday present, she knows me well!

RiRi Woo and Ruby Woo are both matte red lipsticks, this is my favourite kind of finish from MAC as I find they smudge less, don't transfer as much and are incredibly pigmented. These lipsticks are both highly pigmented reds but I find RiRi Woo to be a slightly deeper, more classic red with Ruby Woo being a brighter, true red however these differences are very slight. RiRi Woo seems to be more matte than Ruby Woo which may explain it's labelling as a 'Retro Matte'.

Matte lipsticks can be difficult to apply as they drag along the lip so I would definitely recommend applying with a brush and a lip liner as I struggle to get clean lines whilst using these lipsticks and considering their pigmentation this can sometimes result in me looking like 'The Joker #2'.
COMPARISON
L-R MAC RiRi Woo, MAC Ruby Woo
Above I have included two pictures of me wearing both lipsticks so you can see the differences of the lipstick once applied (the lighting is similar - it looks different but I've dyed my hair recently!). As you can see the difference is very slight so I would definitely advise that you definitely don't need both however I like that RiRi Woo is a little darker, more Marilyn Monroe, so I'm glad I have them both as I get good wear out of the two yet I do find myself reaching for RiRi Woo over Ruby Woo.....

There will be another sale of RiRi Woo this month so keep your eyes peeled if you're wanting to pick it up....
